Copy Company is a new feature introduced in Dynamics NAV
2013 R2. Copy Company feature allows user to duplicate existing company to a
new company effortlessly. For example, I can use the copy company function to duplicate
Cronus International Ltd to Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
1)
Go to Departments à
Administration à
IT Administration à
General à
Companies from RTC.2) Select the company that I want to duplicate, e.g., Cronus International Ltd.
3) Click Copy button.
4) Enter the new company name, e.g., Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
5) Click OK.
Prior to NAV 2013 R2, if I want to duplicate Cronus
International Ltd to Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd, I will first backup Cronus
International Ltd to a .fbk file and then rename the existing Cronus
International Ltd to Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd. After the rename complete, then I
will restore Cronus International Ltd to the same database.
The Copy Company function in NAV 2013 R2 is obviously much simpler and easier than
then backup, rename and restore process.

It is not working with other companies. for example I have created one new company for customer for live. I am not able to copy this live company to create a test company. its working for only chronus company.
It works on all companies, not only Cronus. You can copy live company to create test company. If you are able to copy Cronus company only, I guess you are using Cronus test license.
What happens with existing data of company which we will duplicate?
Data will also duplicated or only setup and company informations are duplicated?
I have only worked wit microsoft ax dynamics so thank you for covering the NAV topic. It looks as a great tool to me :)
